Excelsior Orthopaedics teamed up with Vern Gambetta as a member of the GAIN Network (Gambetta Athletic Improvement Network) to create Excelsior Sports Training – a sports training facility in Western New York. Being an affiliate of the GAIN Network, Excelsior Sports Training collaborates with other select physical therapy groups across the country on the latest in sports training methods. Excelsior’s Sports Training concept was developed using a Medical Model – the same model used by professional football, basketball, hockey, soccer teams, etc. The Medical Model for Sports Training uses the techniques of functional sports training in conjunction with a full staff of Physicians, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists.
Athletes using Excelsior Sports Training benefit from the collective knowledge of the medical professionals and a full service training facility in Amherst, NY. Excelsior Sports Training uses a collaborative team to train and rehabilitate athletes. Classes and programs include Sport Ready – which helps injured athletes get back in the game, Foundational Strength – which builds a broad general strength foundation, Sport Specific Warm Up – prepares athletes for the start of practice and competition, and Fit to Play – which prepares athletes for a specific sport.
Excelsior Sports Training is part of the Excelsior campus at 3925 Sheridan Drive Amherst. The Sheridan Drive facility has Excelsior Orthopaedics, Excelsior Physical and Occupational Therapy, Excelsior Sports Training, Buffalo Surgery Center, digital state-of-the-art x-ray facilities, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and a bracing and medical equipment area. Excelsior Orthopaedics has offices in Amherst, Orchard Park and Niagara Falls.
