About Dr. Mann
Dr. Mann is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who is experienced in all aspects of lower extremity care. In fact, he completed a dual fellowship in hip & knee care and foot & ankle care. Dr. Mann is also skilled at performing revision work on previous injuries. He enjoys meeting his patients as much as he enjoys the technical aspects of his job. He got into medicine to help people, and he’ll brainstorm with you to discover the best treatment with the best outcomes for your goals. His approach to care is always thoughtful and caring, but rooted in the goals of minimizing long-term pain.
Dr. Mann was born in Montreal and raised in British Columbia. He and his wife have two boys, and his devotion to his family takes up most of his time. He and the family like to travel several times a year, attend Bills and Sabres games, participate in sports with the kids, and he and his wife will squeeze in an occasional date night whenever possible. Dr. Mann is a true family man, and his time outside of work is dedicated to raising his children.
How have hip and knee replacements changed in the last decade?
“Hip and knee replacements have changed drastically in the last five years. The majority of patients go home after the operation, and have surgery in an outpatient facility. That’s what we’re doing here at Excelsior. Hip and knee replacements last a long time, it’s usually a one-surgery deal.“
If you weren’t a physician, what else do you think you’d be doing?
“I think I’d be a mathematician or some form of engineer, that was kind of my forte in undergrad. I probably would have stuck with that.”
