If you have an orthopaedic condition or injury, you may need surgery to eliminate the pain and restore full function. In some cases, however, non-surgical “pain management” techniques can prove to be an effective alternative. In either case, there’s one place where all your needs can be met – the Buffalo Surgery Center, conveniently located on the Excelsior Orthopaedics medical campus. (That’s one of the things that make Excelsior so unique!)
The Buffalo Surgery Center is Western New York's only onsite orthopaedic surgery center, designed not only with your comfort, but also your busy lifestyle in mind.
At the Buffalo Surgery Center, you’ll enjoy the convenience be being able to have your surgery or “pain management” treatments performed at the same place where you’ve been evaluated by one of the Excelsior Orthopaedics physicians – potentially on the same day, if necessary.
Having surgery done in an “ambulatory”(out-patient) facility like the Buffalo Surgery Center means that you can avoid the inconvenience of an overnight - possibly even longer - stay in the hospital. The Buffalo Surgery Center has three state-of-the-art operating suites, fully equipped for arthroscopic surgery. Each suite handles multiple cases per day. Due to advancements in the surgical techniques and equipment we use, you may be surprised to learn the types of surgeries that can now be performed on an outpatient basis, including repairs to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or rotator cuff.
Of course, surgery may not be the most appropriate form of treatment for you. “Pain management” techniques may be a better alternative. If that’s the case, the Buffalo Surgery Center is still the right place for you, as our staff includes physicians who are experts in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of pain. This specialized medical field is known as “physiatry” or “rehabilitation medicine.” Through their efforts, physiatrists seek to minimize a patient’s pain and help them regain full function.
Our caring, attentive physicians will thoroughly review and discuss your situation to determine the best form of treatment for you – surgical or non-surgical. In either case, you can be sure that your experience at the Buffalo Surgery Center will be a superior one, with the highest possible level of service, comfort and convenience.
