Typical Express Care Cases

Excelsior Orthopaedics Express offers urgent care services to adult and pediatric patients with orthopaedic-related injuries. We offer a great alternative to the emergency room for orthopaedic or sports-related injuries that require immediate attention. Our facilities offer on-site X-ray, MRI and unlike most urgent care centers we offer casting. We've served Western New Yorkers who've suffered workplace injuries, household accidents, weekend warrior injuries and everything in between. The list below details some of the most common conditions we treat, but our expertise extends to many other types of injuries as well.

Sprains And Strains

Sprains And Strains

Sprains and strains are some of the most common injuries we see at our Express clinic. They're commonly referred to as soft-tissue injuries because they typically affect muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Whether it's an ankle, a wrist, a knee, or any other type of sprain, our doctors all have extensive experience diagnosing and treating these injuries.

Tears

Tears

Tears are more severe soft-tissue traumas that occur when a muscle, ligament, or tendon has been overextended or stressed so far as to cause a rupture in the tissue. These injuries are usually caused by a fall, twist, or impact to the affected area. If you've suffered a tear, symptoms will usually include severe pain, swelling, and a limited range of motion.

Fractures

Fractures

There are a handful of different kinds of fractures, but each is basically a variation of the same injury: a broken bone. Broken bones most frequently are caused by an impact trauma, osteoporosis (weakening and degradation of bones), or overuse, which can lead to stress fractures.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is the band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot and supports the natural arch of your bones. This inflammation is the most common cause of heel pain among Americans and frequently occurs when the foot becomes overstressed with repetitive activity.

Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow is a condition that causes pain in the elbow and is frequently brought about by overuse and repetitive strain. Sports like tennis and racquetball do contribute to the condition as the name suggests, but other activities can cause tennis elbow as well.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Before you can really understand what carpal tunnel syndrome is, it helps to know what the carpal tunnel is. The carpal tunnel is a narrow pathway through the inside of the wrist bones that allows tendons and nerves to travel from the forearm, through the wrist and into the hand.

Dislocated Shoulder

Dislocated Shoulder

A dislocated shoulder occurs when part or all of the humerus bone comes out of the socket it is attached to at the collarbone. Dislocation of the shoulder can cause serious pain and instability in the joint and is usually accompanied by symptoms such as swelling, numbness, bruising, and loss of range of motion.
