July 30th, 2020 8:00am

(BUFFALO, N.Y.) –  Excelsior Orthopaedics Director Physical and Occupational Therapy, Alanna Pokorski has been named to a number of leadership roles within the New York State Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA).

The NYPTA is composed of over 6,000 members who are physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and students.  The organization’s stated mission is to “to represent and promote the profession of physical therapy in meeting the needs and interests of members in their service to society, and to develop and advance the art and science of physical therapy including practice, education, and research.”

This week, Pokorski agreed to serve a second term as a member of the NYPTA’s Editorial Board and will also serve on its Finance Committee.  In May, she was elected as Chair the organization’s Western District.  Pokorski has been treating patients in Western New York for more than 20 years, with a primary focus on outpatient orthopaedics for spine and extremity diagnoses.  She joined Excelsior in 2019. Pokorski earned her Physical Therapy degree from Daemen College, and transitional DPT from Arcadia University in 2014.   She has taught multiple courses to clinicians in Upstate NY, including academic settings such as University at Buffalo, Nazareth College, and nationally at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Private Practice Conference.
