Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow is a condition that causes pain in the elbow and is frequently brought about by overuse and repetitive strain. Sports like tennis and racquetball contribute to the condition as the name suggests, but other activities can cause tennis elbow as well.

Symptoms include pain in the outside part of the forearm near the elbow and weakened grip. If you're suffering from tennis elbow, you'll probably also have difficulty performing the kinds of repetitive motions that cause the condition, like swinging a racquet or hammering nails. Typically, the pain will build up over time and become more and more unbearable as days and weeks of activity go by.

To treat tennis elbow, the first step is to get diagnosed by a doctor. The treatment is entirely based on how serious your condition is and how long you've been dealing with it. Your options can include anything from rest to physical therapy to bracing your elbow to surgery, and only a doctor can help you make the right decisions about your treatment and recovery. If you are suffering from serious elbow pain, give us a call today to set up an appointment.

If you're looking for more in-depth information about tennis elbow, it's symptoms and causes, and how you might be affected, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons put together this excellent resource for people just like you.
