A Day in the Life

The Path to Success

High-quality images are critical to patient care. The physicians rely on them to be able to treat patients, so it’s important that the x-rays are clear and accurate. Being detail oriented is important to achieve this. For patients getting diagnostic x-rays, they’re often coming in pain. We try to make the process as comfortable as possible for them, which means doing the job with patience and compassion. Sometimes, it means thinking outside the box to get the right image with the least amount of patient discomfort.

Delivering exceptional patient care has been my career passion. With Excelsior’s support model, I am able to fulfill my role of spending quality time with each patient to fully understand their concern and injury in order to develop a treatment plan for success. Working collaboratively with my clinical peers is another valuable component of my role - it provides all of us the opportunity to learn and grow while supporting Excelsior’s mission of transforming lives.

Combining my organizational skills with my medical terminology training makes scribing a fun and interesting experience every day—I’m always learning!

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Comprehensive orthopaedic care requires a full team of professionals! LPNs at Excelsior are an important part of the team.

Medical Assistant (MA)

Certified Medical Assistants work closely with health care providers to assist with many aspects of patient care.

Our Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners work closely with a partner physician, or at Excelsior Express, to provide world-class orthopaedic care.

Registered Nurse (RN)

The nursing staff at Excelsior are a critical part of the team. Registered Nurses provide compassionate patient care.

By participating in events that fundraise for Special Olympics New York, Excelsior Orthopaedics and Buffalo Surgery Center are making sure our friends and neighbors with developmental disabilities get the same access and opportunity as everyone else to compete in sports. Each winter, you’ll find our team jumping into Lake Erie at the Polar Plunge, and each summer, our team plays flag football at Highmark Stadium in the Buffalo Bowl. We raises thousands of dollars annually.

University Express offers free educational classes for older adults in Erie County. The program runs during spring and fall semesters. You will find classes in a variety of categories, including current affairs, history, humanities, finance and medicine. Classes are designed to stimulate the mind and provide opportunities to build social networks, thereby reducing social isolation.

Excelsior Orthopaedics and Buffalo Surgery Center are committed to the importance of mental health. Each year at The Good Climb – a unique endurance event and mental health services fundraiser – our team members climb up HoliMont mountain to raise money for youth mental health programs in Western New York high schools.

We work with a number of local high school teams to provide athletic training services, and run a number of classes, events and programs designed specifically for enhanced safety and injury prevention in youth athletics.
