Patient Feedback
About Dr. Miller
Dr. Miller is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacements, and partial knee replacements. His approach to patient care is to ensure each patient understands all their options - including non-surgical options. He aims to educate patients and work with them to make the right choice, medically and personally. He wants patients to feel comfortable asking questions, and to be armed with information about their conditions and their treatment options.
Dr. Miller and his wife have seven children that keep him busy. As one of six children himself, he’s always been surrounded by family. He’s a newly-minted dog lover, and also has two Hungarian Vizslas. He spent several years as a mechanical engineer at Fisher Price and working with General Motors before making the transition into medicine.
How did your career as a mechanical engineer impact your career as a physician?
“My degree and background in engineering has given me a very good three dimensional perspective on things. Even going back to my first drafting class in engineering school, it really developed the skills to see things in three dimensions, which is largely what I do anytime I’m doing surgery.”
Are there any causes you support?
“I am a big advocate of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. When my daughter was 8, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She’s really benefited from the research efforts funded by JDRF. I don’t know that there will be a cure in my lifetime, but in the short time she’s carried this diagnosis, JDRF has made it a far more manageable disease for those diagnosed with it.”
