Patient Feedback
About Dr. Douglas
Dr. Douglas is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, particularly shoulder and knee care. He’s been practicing for over three decades, and his practice is mainly shoulder and knee injury repairs. He approaches each patient with a deep sense of perseverance, creativity and knowledge - he is committed to sticking with each case until it’s solved. He wants his patients to feel comfortable being completely honest with him, knowing that he will educate them on their options and that he is always on their side.
Dr. Douglas grew up in Pennsylvania, but his wife is a Buffalo native. He values his time outside of work as an opportunity to rest, read and spend time with his four daughters. He’s a college football fan, especially his alma mater Penn State, and locally he supports the St. Francis football team. Before he had children, Dr. Douglas was an active triathlete. Now he stays fit by hitting the gym as often as possible and spending time outdoors - he recently climbed the Grand Teton in Wyoming!
How has technology changed in orthopaedics over your career?
“The technology is hugely advanced. In 1969, I tore my ACL playing high school football and it ended my career, and I loved playing football. Nowadays, it’s an outpatient operation and 8 months later you’re playing football again, pretty reliably. So that’s an example of how far it’s come.”
What’s your favorite movie?
“The Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis. We went on a vacation once to Asheville, North Carolina, where some of it was filmed. We were escorted to our hotel room and there was a plaque on the door that said ‘Daniel Day Lewis stayed here during filming of Last of the Mohicans.’ It was a pretty neat coincidence.”
