Patient Feedback
About Dr. Reed
Dr. Reed is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in upper extremity care. As a physician, he values the opportunity to listen to patients and remain focused on their goals. His career in medicine is driven by a desire to connect with people and serve his community. He treats all patients with empathy, respect and kindness, and hopes that you feel a sense of acceptance while you’re in his care.
For Dr. Reed, his Christian faith is a critical driver in both his work and his home life, and he and his family are dedicated to a life of service. When he leaves work, Dr. Reed spends his time with his wife and four children. They love being outside, fishing, hiking and hunting in the warmer months, and skiing in the winter. He comes from a family of builders, and has retained a love for working with his hands and physical labor - he even enjoys yard work and gardening.
What was your journey into medicine?
“Growing up, I didn’t always want to be a surgeon. I wanted to be an architect, and then that evolved to architectural engineering, and then that evolved to biomedical engineering, and then I felt a calling to deal directly with people more than I would as an engineer. So I took the pre-med classes to be able to go to medical school. I worked for a year in the biomedical engineering field, and then was fortunate enough to get into medical school. I grew up swinging a hammer, so orthopaedics was a natural segue.”
How does your faith impact your approach to patient care?
“Part of my mission in life is to be able to take all comers - people who are struggling, people who need help - and represent Christian faith in the best way possible. I’m not always perfect, but I want to try. I’m blessed to be able to interact with people and do my missions work in my place of employment. The acceptance, understanding and care that I give to each patient is without qualification or discrimination, and is consistent with the healing that I believe as a surgeon I’m called to do.”
