About Dr. Violante
Dr. Violante is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on adult joint reconstruction, particularly hip and knee replacements and revisions. Dr. Violante and his team are experienced in complex or complicated hip and knee conditions, and considers one of his greatest strengths to be his communication skills. He strives to make sure patients feel calm while in his care, and values the opportunity to learn about his patients and hear stories about their lives.
Dr. Violante is the middle of seven children, and is now enjoying life as a father and husband. He spends most of his time outdoors with his family, looking for creative ways to get his kids away from electronics. They spend many hours on family bike rides, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, climbing - anything that allows him to indulge in the outdoors. He enjoys travelling, and looks forward to doing more as his children grow up. He likes working with his hands, and is typically found tinkering or working on something at home.
What is the philosophy of osteopathic medicine?
“As a D.O., I’m a doctor of osteopathic medicine. The early phases of osteopathic medicine were about change. I choose this path because of the philosophy It was about finding a better way, or an alternative way, than just the traditional pathways we had in the past. It means that patients won’t have one pathway to success - there are many options. When patients come to see me, I ask how I can help. I can’t solve all their problems, but I can often tell them how we can help them structurally, and suggest some of the global things they can do to improve their health.”
If you were not a physician, what else would you be doing?
“If I was not a physician, I think the ultimate job for me would be a National Geographic photographer. Travelling the world, being in nature. I took some photography classes in college and I really loved them. Given enough time, I’d love to be able to travel the world and really look at nature on a more detailed scale. There’s art and science that come together in it - the artistic ability with science to back it up. It’s a lot like what being a physician is for me. My wife thinks I should be a bicycle wine tour guide when I retire.”
