Date: August 28, 2020 Category: Uncategorized

Drs. Christopher M Keating and Daniel V. Vargo,  have joined the Excelsior Orthopaedics team of physicians.

“We are very pleased to welcome Drs. Keating and Vargo to our practice,” said David Uba, Excelsior’s Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Keating adds even more depth to our growing team of podiatrists, further establishing Excelsior as the recognized center of excellence for podiatric care in Western New York.  Similarly, with Dr. Vargo’s expertise in knee and hip replacements, we are better positioned to care for the increasing number of patients in need of these life-changing procedures.”

The following is a biographical summary for each of Excelsior’s new physicians:

Christopher M. Keating,  DPM

Dr. Keating is a board qualified podiatrist who provides a wide range of podiatric care and has extensive training in foot and ankle reconstruction surgery.  A native of Western New York, he is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, and earned his medical degree as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, OH.  He then did his Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.  Interestingly, Dr. Keating is a third generation podiatrist.  His father, Dr. Dan Keating and uncle, Dr. Sean Keating are also practicing podiatrists at Excelsior Orthopaedics.

Daniel V. Vargo, MD

Dr. Daniel Vargo is a board eligible orthopaedic surgeon who treats all musculoskeletal conditions of the “lower extremities” – hips and knees.  He specializes in total knee and hip joint replacements, and revision work employing the most advanced surgical techniques including the anterior approach for total hip replacement.   Dr. Vargo is a Western New York native.  He earned a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, then graduated from UB’s School of Medicine.  He did his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Tufts University Medical Center in Boston, MA  and then completed an Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at  OrthoCarolina, Charlotte, NC.

Both of Excelsior’s new physicians are accepting new patients and will maintain offices hours at Excelsior’s Amherst, Orchard Park and Niagara Falls offices.

The additions of Drs. Keating and Vargo the Excelsior Orthopaedics team of physicians and other providers is the latest step in the practice’s significant growth over the last several years.  Most recently, Excelsior announced its plans for a new physical and occupational therapy center in the City of Buffalo, which is anticipated to open in September.

“We are committed to providing our Western New York community with superior, comprehensive orthopaedic and sports medicine care,” Uba said. “With the addition of Drs. Keating and Vargo, we are now able to make this care available to even more patients.”
