Telemedicine (virtual video visit)

Excelsior Orthopaedics has expanded its telemedicine offering for new and existing patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Telemedicine (virtual video visit) refers to the practice of caring for patients remotely using live video visits. It allows our physicians to evaluate, diagnose and develop treatment plans with a patient using technology, such as video chat and smartphones, without the need for an in-person visit. This of course is critical as we all practice social distancing and work to reduce the potential risk of exposure for patients and staff.
Telemedicine video visits are a safe and convenient way for you to interact with a physician and/or physical therapist, while enabling our team to identify the widest range of care options for you.

Following your telemedicine visit, there are a number of steps that could be taken, depending on your condition. These may include:

  • Sending in prescriptions to your pharmacy
  • Ordering medical imaging such as MRIs and X-rays
  • Referring you to speak with a Physical Therapist
  • Sharing home exercise programs
  • Scheduling an onsite appointment or a follow up telemedicine appointment

Does my Insurance cover telemedicine visits?

Most insurances are temporarily covering telemedicine visits. Your “cost share” (copay, coinsurance and deductible) will be determined by your insurance carrier. Benefit limitations and coverage guidelines do apply. If you have a question regarding specific plan details, we encourage you to contact your insurance carrier.

HOW IT WORKS:

To schedule a telemedicine visit click here. Once you complete the form our team will contact you to determine if you condition is appropriate for a telemedicine visit. If it is, we will schedule an appointment for you.

Then here’s what the next steps will be:

If you are a new patient, you will need to complete our new patient form. Please note: If you are an existing patient you may need to complete this form. Our scheduling team will advise you of this when you book your appointment. Click Here to complete the required intake form. Please do you best to complete this form two days prior to your appointment.

  • An email (and a text message) will be sent to you. It will include a link to join the telemedicine visit.
