Welcome, Dr. Jared Carlson!
AMHERST, N.Y. – Excelsior Orthopaedics and the Buffalo Surgery Center are excited to welcome back a familiar face to the Buffalo area, Dr. Jared Carlson, who returns to WNY from Guam.
While Dr. Carlson is originally from Michigan, he completed his Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship from 2013-2014 at the University at Buffalo through Excelsior. Upon completion, he relocated to Tamuning, Guam as a full-time hand surgeon at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, which received Healthcare Asia Awards, in part thanks to Dr. Carlson’s co-leadership of its COVID 19 task force at the beginning of the pandemic in the Western Pacific.
Dr. Carlson is Medical Board Licensed in the State of New York and Guam, he is certified in Surgery of the Hand and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and he is now seeing new patients in Amherst and Niagara Falls.
“I hope every patient walks away from a visit with confidence, knowing ‘He really cares, and I trust him.’ That bond is the most important thing,” Dr. Carlson said regarding how he approaches patient care.
Outside of his passion for treating his patients and helping them restore function, Dr. Carlson is an avid surfer, music composer, and comic collector.
His unique background in Guam is full of fascinating stories, including treating emergency trauma, skin infections, and more. He’s also uniquely experienced in treating people with different or less resources than patients in the mainland United States.
