About Dr. Phillips
Dr. Phillips is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He is meticulous about patient care and preparedness, and aims to exhaust non-surgical treatments before recommending the operating room. Dr. Phillips believes that patients who feel heard and involved have better outcomes, and is resolute in his commitment to focus 100% of his attention on the patient in the room with him.
Outside of work, Dr. Phillips spends time with his wife, a family medicine physician, and his daughter. He’s an avid runner and lifelong athlete who loves soccer and has completed several half marathons, including fundraising races and trail running. Having grown up in Baltimore he is a die-hard Ravens fan, but - at his WNY-born wife’s insistence - his wedding vows included a pledge of loyalty to the Buffalo Bills.
What are your favorite procedures to perform?
“Any type of revision surgery is both mentally complex and physically demanding. Helping patients who had a failed joint replacement regain their independence and mobility is why I went into a joint reconstruction fellowship.”
Do you have a favorite book?
”A favorite book of mine has always been “One Bullet Away.” It’s an autobiography by Nathaniel Fick, who is an alum from my high school, and it details stories of his time in the military. It taught me about leadership and perspective, and I’ve tried to take those qualities and put them into my own life.”
